Spring is finally here, and with it comes the promise of warmer days, blooming flowers, and fresh starts. After the slower pace of winter, it’s the perfect time to refresh your routines, including your self-care rituals. Personally, I love to try and give my routine a little update as the season changes. The days are brighter and feel longer, I have more energy and motivation, it is the perfect time to get to all of those little things that you have been wanting to do.
So, whether you're stepping outside to soak up some sunshine or resetting your skincare routine, spring invites us to nurture ourselves and embrace the vibrant energy of the season. Together, let's dive into how you can get into the swing of spring with a holistic approach to self-care.
1. Revamp Your Skincare Routine for the Season
Spring calls for lighter, breathable products that support your skin as the temperatures rise. If you’ve been using heavier creams to combat dry winter skin, now is the time to transition to hydrating yet lightweight formulas that allow your skin to feel fresh and bouncy.
Look for natural-based skincare products that help balance your skin’s hydration levels, such as serums with hyaluronic acid or soothing botanicals like chamomile and calendula. These ingredients provide deep moisture while calming the skin. A fabulous idea is to transition to a light day cream like the HempBright Face the Day Crème which is rich in vitamin C to brighten your complexion, and packed with active botanicals which will nourish your skin without any heavy comedogenics that can clog your pores!
2. Embrace Outdoor Movement
With the weather warming up, spring is an ideal time to reconnect with nature through outdoor activities. Whether it's yoga in the park, a morning walk along the beach, or even gardening, spending time outdoors not only improves your physical health but boosts your mood. Sunlight helps to regulate your body’s natural circadian rhythms and increases vitamin D production, which is essential for overall well-being. I love to step outside for a few minutes right after I wake up for a little boost of sunshine and fresh air that kickstarts my day. Just don’t forget to apply a broad-spectrum SPF as part of your skincare routine before heading out!
3. Spring Clean Your Space (and Mind)
Spring cleaning doesn’t only apply to your home – think of it as a chance to declutter your mind as well. Take this opportunity to clear out old products from your bathroom shelves, creating space for fresh, natural-based skincare that aligns with the new season. Similarly, a digital detox can help clear mental clutter and bring a sense of calm and renewal. Consider journaling or meditative practices to bring clarity and intention into the new season. I also like to use this as an opportunity to step back and assess the habits that I have created for myself (this is great to do while journaling) and see if I need to adjust anything that I do routinely. Habit tracking can also be a fun way to manage this!
4. Nourish Your Body with Spring Foods
What we put inside our bodies is just as important as what we apply to our skin. Spring is abundant with fresh fruits and vegetables that are hydrating, nutrient-dense, and packed with antioxidants. Incorporating seasonal greens like asparagus, spinach, and arugula can help detoxify the body and promote glowing skin. Hydration is also key, so remember to drink plenty of water and herbal teas to keep your skin plump and radiant.
5. Prioritise Rest and Relaxation
As the days grow longer, it can be easy to fill up your calendar with activities. But self-care is about finding balance. Make sure to carve out time for rest, whether it’s an afternoon nap, a few extra moments in your skincare routine, or an evening dedicated to a long bath infused with calming essential oils. Prioritising rest not only benefits your body and mind but also enhances your skin’s natural repair process, leaving you feeling refreshed from the inside out.
This spring, embrace self-care as a way to bloom alongside the season. Whether it's revitalising your skincare routine with natural products, spending time outdoors, or nourishing your body with seasonal foods, small intentional changes can help you feel your best as the days grow warmer. Ready to step into spring? Let this season be one of renewal, where you prioritise your well-being and let your natural glow shine through.
