Lymphatic drainage massages are a great way to reduce swelling and improve circulation in your face. There are lots of spas that offer this therapeutic treatment. However, it is also possible to do it yourself! This type of massage focuses on the lymph nodes and vessels in the face to promote lymphatic flow and remove excess fluid. Here are the steps for a self-massage for facial lymphatic drainage:
- Cleanse your face: Before you start, make sure your face is clean and free of makeup or other products. Use a gentle cleanser, such as Hark & Zander's HempPurify Emulsifying Oil Cleanser, and warm water to wash your face.
- Apply a little bit of oil: To help your hands glide smoothly over your skin, apply a small amount of oil to your face. The Hark & Zander Face Oil is the perfect product for this step. Made with all-natural ingredients, you don't need to worry about any nasties spoiling your massage!
- Start at the forehead: Begin by placing your fingers on your forehead, just above your eyebrows. Apply gentle pressure and move your fingers in small circular motions, working towards the temples.
- Move to the temples: Continue the circular motions on your temples, then move down along the side of your face towards the jawline.
- Massage the jawline: Once you reach the jawline, move your fingers under your jaw and massage upwards towards your ears. Repeat this motion several times.
- Massage the neck: Move down to your neck and repeat the same circular motions along the sides of your neck, working towards the collarbone.
- Finish with the cheeks: End the massage by working on your cheeks. Place your fingers under your cheekbones and massage upwards towards your temples.
It is essential to be gentle and avoid applying too much pressure during the massage. You should also avoid massaging any areas that are sore or tender. A self-massage for facial lymphatic drainage can be done once or twice a week and is a great addition to your self-care routine. It is also possible to use Gua Sha tools instead of your fingers if you feel comfortable doing so.
