Lockdown Musings From Jen - Our Amazing H&Z Project Manager
Here's something different... a little lockdown ramble to sooth a flailing soul.
The BBC headline read "New Zealand enters nationwide lockdown over one Covid case" and, truth be told, my heart fluttered a little with an embarrassing sort of nationalistic pride. We know how to do lockdowns, we've done it before and we'll do it again. Even this Delta variant won't stand a chance against our team of 5 million.
Yes, I'm all in on the rhetoric, but I need to be in order to maintain a semblance of sanity. I admit to welling up when Jacinda and Dr Bloomfield herald good or heartfelt news from the press stand daily. Sometimes I wonder whether they could read the back of a peanut butter jar at 1:00 and I'd well up!
It's probably indicative of my precariously balanced state of providing home-schooling, house-working, Covid-avoiding miracles whilst attempting to maintain regular working hours. I admit to failing on all fronts at the moment (Covid-avoidance excepted), but I'm convinced (read: determined) we'll find a balance by Monday!
One thing that was brought into sharp focus, to my shame, was how inactive I've been over the past few months... all with the very good intention of us working towards bringing you the next H&Z product of superior bliss, our HempPurify Emulsifying Oil Cleanser... but that's another story. Over lockdown our family embarks on (what to passers-by must look like some sort of convulsing madness) the utterly interminable sessions of PE with Joe. My seven year old and I tuned in and got three quarters of the way through before we mutually agreed we'd done enough lunges today.
The fun really started for me the next morning when I unfurled myself from bed like an old door needing an oil. Could I move? No. Could I move the next day? No. Did I then accost my husband with an unabashed HempLavish-me plea? Yes. Have I resolved to add at least a short jog to my daily schedule even when things are chaotic? I'm afraid I haven't yet, though I feel I must and that it is inevitable.
So here's to us. Doing all we can, being all we can. Locking down like a boss.
